connect the bluray to the tv with HDMI then see if your surround receiver has an input for aux or tv connect the tvs audio output to the aux/tv input in your surround then anything that goes to the tv will sound through the surround system

Your magnavox bluray player according to published specifications has two audio output. First is a pair of red and white jacks for stereo audio, and an optical/SPDIF port for digital audio. Since movies in bluray have audio either in 5.1 or 7.1 channels, it is best that you use the optical port. But I hope your surround receiver has an optical audio input. The HDMI cable will only transmit digital video and audio signals from your bluray player to your TV. You can’t use your 2nd HDMI cable.

HDMI from blue ray to tv and optical cable from blue ray to the rca surround system.
